Yo I’m so confused - why aren’t the NRA releasing a statement to say that the tragedy wouldn’t have happened if only Trayvon Martin was armed, and calling on young black men to get themselves guns? Surely that’s the kind of thing they like to do?
In a bizarre twist befitting a Hollywood conspiracy theory movie. the AP reports today that Boston Marathon bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev was influenced by conspiracy theories, including Alex Jones’ website Infowars, which has been pushing a narrative that the Tsarnaev brothers were patsies set up by a government cabal to take the fall for the bombing … There’s no doubt that Jones will take this report as confirmation of everything he’s been preaching. The report, he will claim, was planted in the AP — the government controls the media, after all — and is a naked attempt to discredit him and definitive proof that the globalist cabal views him as a serious threat. He was getting too close to the truth in Boston, so they decided to try to take him out. It’ll be a big shot in the arm to Jones’ grand theory of the bombings, which has suffered from an embarrassing lack of evidence and logical consistently. He said the government first planned to blame the Tea Party, but then was found out and had to switch Plan B — blame Muslim extremists — so with the AP report, Jones will say, the government is trying to return to Plan A.
Other reports state that the suspects’ mother was a believer in 9/11 truther theories — specifically ones spouted by Jones and others -- that claim 9/11 was a government conspiracy to make Americans hate Muslims because terrorism, but was concocted to take away civil rights and gain power, blah blah blah.
For people who think the government is largely incompetent, Jones and his followers sure have a lot of faith in it. It will be interesting to see how this shakes out as the investigation continues, considering anything said regarding Tsarnaev being a fan of Alex Jones can, of course, just be another part of the “conspiracy.”
Emphasis mine — this is what gets me every time.
but Rush said they were democrats, OMG, I don’t know what to believe #headspins The right always tries to blame the nuts on the left
Just as MIT news broke I had a call from an unfamiliar Santa Cruz number asking if I was the parent of Ms D. Immediately assumed something had happened to her and just about had a full meltdown. They were fundraising.
As I was writing this, the pug threw up in four places, something she never does.
So can we kick this week in the ass now? It’s been a long time since I’ve been wound up this tight.
Just over 10 years ago I spent a week in Boston with my son, who was competing in the national Irish dance championships there. We landed on July 1st in the middle of a horrible heat wave and spent most of our non-dance time exploring the city on foot because funds were low for that trip.
When Bostonians describe the Boston Marathon as an event without doors, I can’t help but think back to the evening of July 4, 2002, walking through the Commons to the sound of the Boston Pops and then the most magnificent fireworks display I had ever seen.
It was 2002, not even a year after 9-11, but that didn’t stop Boston from celebrating Independence Day with aplomb. No one was afraid. It was a city-wide party. A party without doors. Everywhere we went, people were friendly and helpful, especially when they saw how map-challenged I was. One night walking back to the hotel we took a wrong turn and landed in an area that wasn’t especially welcoming of moms and 13-yr old sons. But even then we didn’t feel in danger. Just out of place.
Boston has a sweet spot in my memories and my heart, for the warmth of the people even in a very hot city. The sounds and sights of what seemed like the whole city celebrating July 4th without fear or apology was inspiring and unforgettable.
Boston will overcome this. Next year there will be even more runners. It will still be an event without doors, and we won’t let fear win. Solidarity, Boston. You’re in our hearts and prayers.
Ignore the haters and fearmongers. They want us to hate and be afraid. *g’night and click*
Donating blood is a given (though you should plan to donate to replenish as the hospitals are currently reporting that they are well stocked, but will need more blood later when these stores are depleted)
So, let’s pull together a list for now and the future okay? Okay.
