Love this.

Back on the bike after a long hiatus. Feels good to ride again. I just wish the cars would go away.

I understand being distraught, but I really don’t understand the complete denial here. He’s ADMITTED to it. There’s no whodunit.

I’ve Seen the Worst Memes of My Generation Destroyed by Madness
Annalee Newitz, io9.com

Cultural critic Evgeny Morozovhas just written the essay equivalent of The Social Network. “The Meme Hustlers,” published yesterday in The Baffler, is a fictional-but-true account of a well-known Silicon Valley figure, O’Reilly Books…

“There is nothing “collective” about such distributed intelligence; it’s just a bunch of individual users acting on their own and never experiencing any sense of solidarity or group belonging. Such “participation” has no political dimension; no power changes hands … O’Reilly wants to redefine participation from something that arises from shared grievances and aims at structural reforms to something that arises from individual frustration with bureaucracies and usually ends with citizens using or building apps to solve their own problems.” Right. Data doesn’t do squat. People do. Adding a hashtag or permitting a developer to use your data for micro targeting models benefits the highest bidder.

Pink looks nice on her.

Pug likes pink.

Just as MIT news broke I had a call from an unfamiliar Santa Cruz number asking if I was the parent of Ms D. Immediately assumed something had happened to her and just about had a full meltdown. They were fundraising.

As I was writing this, the pug threw up in four places, something she never does.

So can we kick this week in the ass now? It’s been a long time since I’ve been wound up this tight.
